#1793 Winter Liminal

The dark still thinks it’s in charge
yet the veil has already begun to speak

Cedars hold the waxwing
like an argument with gravity

Everything leans toward its best version
as if the morning is on a date

Hope drifts through the branches
and pauses at my window
long enough for me to listen
