From the recording Incarnata
“Moon Pillow” is a midnight reckoning—a Southern Gothic confession cloaked in velvet darkness and urgent tenderness. Written, sung, and performed entirely by Silvia Passiflora, the track layers ukulele, cajón, bird whistle, and a wooden frog guiro to create a delicate, otherworldly soundscape.
Clocking in at 4:21, Moon Pillow was recorded in a single day, with Silvia performing every instrument herself. What begins as a lullaby of parting transforms into a raw soliloquy—spoken in rhythmic verse—delivered in the final hours before goodbye.
At its core, the song captures the agonizing question:
Do you speak your heart before it’s too late?
As the clock nears midnight, the narrator risks everything—offering up a last confession to someone already slipping away.
This rap-inspired bridge, performed over ukulele, marks a bold fusion of Americana and contemporary spoken rhythm. It’s a genre-blurring, heart-baring moment that refuses to whisper when it could howl.
And howl she does—literally—on the final chorus. A wolf cry of loss and longing, left fully intact in the master.

Lyrics
When the sun tiptoes in
I feel the cold dread within
When our last goodbyes are done
Will there be comfort in the solstice of the sun
Moon Pillow
Moon Pillow
The wolf of my heart howls
Tears falling down, down, down
Knees on the ground, ground, ground
I say goodbye tomorrow
To the one who eased my sorrow
Moon Pillow
Moon Pillow
The wolf of my heart howls
Awoo—oo—ooo!
Awoo—oo—ooo!
Awoo—oo—ooo!
Ow!
With the moon waxing and waning
And the temperature’s suddenly changing
Does this Atlanta girl say what she’s thinking
Because it would sound something like this
In my mind, we were a we
In your mind, what could we be?
I prayed your name at the midnight hour
Full-moon witchy wolfie power
On and on and on in my mind
I can hear the wedding chimes
I can see the candle lights
Don’t you see the candlelights
And you and me at dinner time
I wanna be your little spoon
And you can take my little spoon
And eat my Southern cream pie!
Moon Pillow
Moon Pillow
The wolf of my heart howls
Tears falling down, down, down
Knees on the ground, ground, ground
Say goodbye tomorrow
To the one who eased my sorrow
Moon Pillow
Moon Pillow
The wolf of my heart howls
But did I say what’s on my mind?
This is what I really said:
My love goes with you
To the end
Moon Pillow
Moon Pillow
The wolf of my heart howls
Awoo—oo—ooo!
