“Dear Adam” is a Florentinae™ — a term coined by Silvia Passiflora to describe her original form of spoken word concertina. This piece appears on Incarnata, Silvia's Grammy®-considered EP for Best Folk Album, and also serves as a preview of her forthcoming project Florentinae, a separate spoken word collection eligible for Best Spoken Word Poetry Album.

Written in the voice of Eve as she tries to reach Adam from the Garden, cell signal or not, this piece blends literary monologue with folk minimalism.

Set to a two-chord progression — A and E, representing Adam and Eve —this minimalist piece distills ancient longing into a 33-second monologue. Eve delivers her lines with poetic urgency, saying:
“I sent you the invitation on the Apple. / It must have gotten eaten along the way / because I’m sure you would have replied.”

By turns flirty and sharp, Dear Adam turns the origin story on its head and reminding us that the first heartbreak may have happened long before the first exile.

Lyrics

Dear Adam
I sent you an invitation to a festival
written on an apple
Maybe it got eaten along the way
because I'm sure you would have replied

So I sent the invite once again
tied to a balloon
Would you please accompany me
to a festival for two

Yours
Eve
